Do you ever stop and think what is important to you? Family, friends, work, sport, hobbies, church, God – all these things are important to me and they make up my life.
Since I was diagnosed with a serious illness another thing that I focus a lot on is time. Will I see another Christmas, Spring, Summer or Autumn again, family, marriage, grand-children.
It is a sad thought that we are all dying, some sooner than others, but time is something that only God controls. Look back five years in your life and think what you were doing, memories of holidays, family gatherings etc., don’t you think it seems like yesterday! I don’t know how long I have got left to live, but sadly none of us do! A song I listened to a lot when I was really ill was “When my heart is torn asunder” by Phil Wickham. Check it out on YouTube. The chorus is:
There is a hope
Beyond the suffering
Joy beyond the tears
Peace in every tragedy
Love that conquers fear
I have found redemption
In the blood of Christ
My body might be dying
But I’ll always be alive.
My dad used to say “There are no pockets in shrouds”. When we die what will we leave? The answer is ……….. everything.
Do you know the God that created you?
Do you know the God you will face one day?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3 v 16
